We are very conscious of our impact on the environment with our day to day working activities and the design of the systems we integrate into our buildings.
We work closely with local authorities and building control surveyors to ensure that our works take into account good environmental design and incorporate environmentally friendly materials and products.
When onsite we constantly strive to minimise the levels of pollution to the local environment, minimise the amount of waste we produce from daily works (disposing of any produced in a responsible manner) and give full consideration to other people around us.
Lucy & Co make every effort to improve and enhance the environments we work in.
We do this by giving full respect to all the factors that may affect our works and by becoming ever increasingly environmentally aware and friendly.
The Lucy & Co Environmental Policy is intended to promote and enhance the local environments in which we work by using products that are environmentally friendly and conducting ourselves in a manner that considers the environment around us.
As a company it is our intention to enhance the environments in which we work and we expect this from all our suppliers and sub-contractors.
All our employees and site operatives are made aware of this policy and their own responsibilities towards the environment around them.
This covers all aspects of our work from the ordering of timber from sustainable sources to using low energy temporary lighting on our sites and rain water capture.
As a company it is our policy to continually exceed the minimal levels of performance required by environmental legislation.
We achieve this by pro-actively finding new ways of reducing our impact on our environment in our day to day activities and by receiving constant updates of new legislations and recommendations that affect our industry.
It is our commitment to continually reduce our impact on the environment and because of this our policy is reviewed annually to ensure that our day to day works comply with the policy and that we are fulfilling our potential.
Sustainability is a topic that has become increasingly highlighted in recent years as we are forced to accept that there are limits to the natural resources available to us.
The issue of sustainability derives from the concerns of how we treat our surroundings, the materials we use in our construction works and also where those materials are sourced from.
Lucy & Co appreciate that our building works can potentially have a dramatic impact on the surrounding environments so we strive to ensure that any effect is minimised.
We have made a conscious decision to consider the issues relating to the environment and sustainability when embarking on all new projects.
We aim to exceed the minimum standards imposed by Building Control measures on all our new build projects in an attempt to limit the impact and energy use of the building throughout its lifetime.
We also have procedures in place at “ground-level” attempting to minimise the waste from our construction and refurbishment sites.
We aim to prevent as much waste as possible by investing in our material ordering systems, however we understand that a level of waste is always inevitable. We have re-use and re-cycling systems setup on our sites, again attempting to limit the impact on the environment from the materials we use and waste we create.
We are fully registered with the considerate constructors scheme (00213), in an attempt to formally monitor our activities and provide us feedback so we can continually improve our operations.
This is our tenth year sponsoring the Essex Wildlife Trust in an attempt to help them also maintain the environment around us.
